Mavericks re-sign Haywood
The Dallas Mavericks have re-signed center Brendan Haywood to a six-year contract worth $55 million.
Haywood was acquired by the Mavericks in the middle of last season via trade with the Washington Wizards.
He came over to the Mavericks, along with guards Caron Butler and DeShawn Stevenson, for Josh Howard and others.
Haywood is not much of an offensive player but plays well on defense and gives Dallas a legitimate low-post player.
The team will likely release Erick Dampier, making Haywood the undisputed leader in the paint.
